FC Barcelona is passing through a turbulent time at the moment and it seems that more trouble is awaited for them in near future. A report has claimed today that coach Tata Martino has lost the support of his dressing room and he will not be in charge next season.
Spanish daily Marca has run a front page story claiming that Tata Martino won’t be in charge of Barcelona next season, barring an unthinkable turn of events. The Argentine has been convinced of the fact for some time now. “It’s easier to change one person than to change the lot”, he has remarked to his camp on more than one occasion.
Marca has reported that Martino has proven unable to get the most out of a winning squad that has lost its hunger and is struggling to sustain its level week in week out. Pep Guardiola read this situation to a T back when he decided to leave the club.
It is being reported that some training methods haven’t gone down well in a dressing room that was used to doing things differently. Pens and paper have been discarded in favour of tablets, while fitness training has been a real bone of contention. While in previous seasonsai??i?? fitness drills have been tailored to each individual, now every player has to do the same exercises. This has resulted into disillusionment of the playing staff.
Having been identified last season, this shortcoming hasn’t been amended this time around. The team has again been accused of a lack of intensity, only this time it has reflected the lax regimen in training. The sessions put on haven’t been intense enough, and on some occasions the players have been seen standing around when they ought to have been completing an exercise.
Barca Players Greeted with Insults at Camp Nou
Ai??It seems that Barcelona’s loss against Granada didn’t go down very well with the club’s fans, who showered the players with abuse and barbs on the arrival of the team bus at the Camp Nou. “You should be ashamed”, “you’re a waste of space” and “talk about making a fool of yourselves” were just a handful of the put-downs shouted at the squad.
ai???Marcaai??i?? has reported that despite Tata Martino having given the squad a day off, some players opted to report to the training ground. Mascherano, Iniesta, Neymar and injured trio Puyol, PiquAi?? and Bartra all passed up the opportunity to have a breather three days before the Spanish Cup final.
One group of supporters even asked to talk to the club captains as they sought an explanation for the defeat, while Pinto, Neymar and Alves were all subjected to insults when they went to get into their cars.
