Mexican striker Chicharito may well be on his way out of Manchester this summer after claiming that the club does not take the strikerai??i??s ability ai???much into accountai??i??.
Having been called up by Mexico for international duty, Chicharito revealed his frustration with his current position in the English club. The striker has been used sparingly by David Moyes and it seems that he will seek a change in this yearai??i??s summer transfer window.
Talking about being called up by the national side, Chicharito expressed his delight and his eagerness to play for Mexico after claiming that Manchester United does not take his ability into account.
“I’m very eager to play as my club don’t take me much into account. I hope I have the opportunity to play [for Mexico].”
“When you are called up, you have to be thankful and if not called up, you have to keep working.Ai??I’m very happy and thankful with this call-up, like I was when I was called up for the first time.”
Chicharito has made only four starts in the league so far and has been used sparingly by the new manager. Though the striker was linked with several clubs at the beginning of this season, he decided to stay put at Old Trafford and fight for his position. However it is very clear that the 25 year old striker is disillusioned by his current position in the club. It seems that his position in the national team for the upcoming World Cup is also under threat due to the lack of game-time at Manchester United. He has managed to score only 7 goals this season, 4 of which came in the League Cup.
Many believe that the reason why Chicharito has failed to consolidate a more prominent position at Manchester United is due to the fact that United have always preferred ai???deeperai??i?? strikers who link with the other players and develop a move instead of the conventional No 9 role. Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney both are ball-playing strikers who participate in developing the play rather than hovering around the box to pounce on the ball. Chicharito on the other hand is a more conventional striker, one that makes good runs and pounces on each and every ball, inadvertently finding the back of the net.
According to reports, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Juventus are keeping an eye on the striker and are willing to sign the player for a reasonable transfer fee. Recent reports linking Edison Cavani to United certainly do not bode well for the Mexican striker who has been relegated to playing second fiddle by David Moyes.
There are quite a few clubs that can use the presence of Chicharito in their squad. A proven goal-scorer and a natural poacher, the Mexican striker will find a lot of suitors in England. Jose Mourinho has expressed on more than one occasion that he needs a striker this summer. His primary target Wayne Rooney has tied himself with United for the rest of his career and hence it will not be surprising if Mourinho makes a bid for Chicharito this summer. The Mexican is Ai??most likely to fit well in Mourinhoai??i??s system at London.
Tottenham too are lacking teeth in front of the goal and are reportedly on the look-out for a new striker. Though Adebayor has come good for Spurs recently, Tim Sherwood will definitely be looking for a new striker after Soldadoai??i??s miserable start in his English campaign.
Italy also looks like a possible destination for the Mexican striker after reports emerged that Inter Milan were interested in signing the Mexican striker. With two and half years left in his contract , it seems very unlikely that Chicharito will see out the end of his contract at United unless he is given a more prominent role in the new campaign.
