According to latest reports, Italian giants Inter Milan are plotting a summer move for Chelsea Ai??flop Fernando Torres. Inter are supposedly willing to fork out the A?20m fee that Chelsea are demanding for the striker, who they paid a British transfer record A?50m.
Nerazzurri boss Andrea Stramaccioni has been linked with a myriad of potential striker signings, one that even involved an attempt to persuade Dutch veteran Ruud Van Nistelrooy to come out of retirement. Now, however, Inter seem to have their interest focused on the 28 year old Torres.
Torres has just over two years left on the A?150,000-a-week deal he signed upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Liverpool, but he has been left in no doubt that manager Jose Mourinho is looking to sign a replacement in the summer.
Mourinho was caught on camera less than two weeks in a private conversation with the boss of a Swiss watch company complaining that his team did not have a striker as it challenged for the Barclays Premier League title.
Torres has now gone ten Premier League games without a goal and his overall return of 27 goals in 109 appearances for Chelsea is one that has left many wondering just how much longer Roman Abramovich will stick by the forward.
He was dropped from the Spain squad in midweek, and according to coach Vicente del Bosque he faces a race against time to force his way back in. Del Bosque insisted that he would have to be ruthless when he picks his final 23-man squad.

Inter supposedly inquired about the availability of Juan Mata in January and offered Fredy Guarin in return. Even though no deals were struck, Inter have stayed in touch and are now ready to pounce for Torres.
The move for Torres follows Inter announcing the capture of Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic for next season.
An agreement has been reached on a lucrative three-season deal that will likely see Vidic retire into at the San Siro. The 32-year-old’s contract that will be portrayed as being for two years, with an option for a third where he needs to make a certain number of appearances for the third year to kick in.
The club confirmed they had finally got their man on Wednesday and a picture of Vidic was posted on Inter’s official Twitter feed.
