Chelsea FC striker Demba Ba is on the verge of completing his move to Turkish side Besiktas.
Demba Baai??i??s future at Stamford Bridge has come under a lot of speculations this summer and according to latest reports the Senegalese striker is on the verge of completing his move from Chelsea to Besiktas.
The 29-year-old striker joined Chelsea in the January transfer window last year after enjoying a wonderful spell at Newcastle United. But the former Hoffenheim forward failed to establish himself in the Chelsea first team during his time, both due to lack of opportunities and inconsistent form.
Last season Demba Ba made only five starts in the league as Jose Mourinho preferred both Samuel Etoai??i??o and Fernando Torres ahead of him. Ba did score some important goals though, most memorably against Liverpool, Swansea City and PSG in the Champions League.
Lack of goals from his strikers meant Jose Mourinho was desperate to add more options upfront this summer and the Blues have already acquired the signing of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, while Romelu Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge after another fruitful season on loan. These arrivals means Ba has dropped down further in the pecking order at the London club and he was expected to leave Chelsea in order to regain regular first team action.
Inter Milan, PSG and Trabzonspor were linked with Demba Ba this summer, but Turkish club Besiktas seemed to have defeated all competitions to land the Chelsea striker. Besiktas president Fikret Orman has confirmed that they have close to finalizing a deal for Demba Ba with the English club.
“Demba BaAi??is an excellent player, we have been in talks with ChelseaAi??for a long time over bringing him to Istanbul.
“Talks are ongoing. Chelsea initially wanted A?10 million for Ba but we have negotiated a price we are happy with. We’ll tell the media once the final deal is done.” ai??i?? Orman said in an interview.
With Ba leaving the club Chelsea might yet want to hold onto Romelu Lukaku, who has also being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge as Fernando Torres isnai??i??t a reliable back-up option for Costa.
