Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have joined Manchester United in chase of FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves as the contract situation of the Brzailian remains unresolved.
The contract of Dani Alves is set to expire in the summer of 2015 and FC Barcelona management has made no attempt of extending the same yet. Dani Alves is currently unhappy with his current situation at FC Barcelona and many big clubs of Europe, including Manchester United and PSG, are interested in signing the Brazilian in January transfer window.
Now, the reports coming from London have confirmed the entry of Arsenal and Tottenham in chase of Dani Alves. The Sunday Times report has claimed today that: ai???Arsenal and Tottenham have joined Manchester United in the pursuit of the Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, with the two London clubs inquiring about the Brazil internationalai??i??s intentions in January. The 31-year-old defenderai??i??s Camp Nou deal expires in the summer, leaving him free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Premier League sides in just seven weeksai??i?? time.ai???
Dani Alves, 31, is widely expected to leave FC Barcelona in either January or in summer of 2015 as there is no compromise in sight over his contract situation yet. FC Barcelona signed Brazilian youngster Douglas in the summer of 2014 while they also have La Masia graduate Martin Montoya in their ranks who looks ready to take the place of Dani Alves next year.
And Dani Alves is aware of this unwillingness of FC Barcelona to offer him a new contract as he has expressed his dissatisfaction on many occassions in past few months. Speaking to Spanish radio station RAC1 in May of this year, he threatened to quit the club. He said: ai???There are many doubts over my staying here. If people put up with me as I am, fine. Otherwise I will go somewhere else.ai???
Meanwhile, both Manchester United and Arsenal are aware of this current situation of Dani Alves at FC Barcelona and they are preparing a January offer for the Brazilian. Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants to play Dani Alves ahead of Raphael to add some more steel to his ailing defence.
Arsenal signed Mathieu Debuchy in the summer of 2014 but the Frenchman is currently out with long term ankle injury. The Arsenal management wants to sign an experienced player to replace Debuchy and they feel that Dani Alves is the perfect candidate to replace the injured Frenchman.
Arsenal management believes that an offer in the region of 6-7 million euros would be enough to lure him away in January. But it looks highly unlikely at the moment that FC Barcelona will let Dani Alves go during the winter transfer window.
