Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger is looking for a defensive midfielder and he has set his eyes on Real Madridai??i??s Sami Khedira and AC Milanai??i??s Nigel de Jong.
Arsenal was unlucky with injuries last season as the likes of Jack Wilshere, Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramse spent most of their season on dressing table.
Now, the separate reports coming out from Europe has linked Arsenal with moves for Real Madridai??i??s Sami Khedira and AC Milanai??i??s Nigel de Jong.
French website le10sport.com has reported today that: ai???Khedira is part of Germany’s World Cup squad in Brazil but his club future appears less than certain. Arsene Wenger is interested in bringing the midfielder to the Emirates and the Gunners are lining up a A?15m bid for Khedira.ai???
Real Madrid already have plenty of world class midfielders in their ranks. The likes of Luka Modric, Angel di Maria, Xabi Alonso, Casemiro and Asier Illaramendi have direct competition with Sami Khedira for a place in starting XI. And with the selection of Luka Modric and Xabi Alnso almost certain; the German fears that he will not get enough playing time at Madrid next year and looking for an exit.
Real Madrid are also interested in signing Juventusai??i?? Arturo Vidal this summer. And if Ancelotti succeeds in his chase, Khedira will become no. 5 choice at Madrid and does not want this to be happen.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is fully aware of Khediraai??i??s current situation and wants to make him a Gunner this summer. Reportedly, Wenger has asked Mesut Ozil to convey his message to Khedira during ongoing World Cup so that a deal could get ahead after the conclusion of the tournament.
Arsenal made encouraging start to the season last year but lost their lead during the business end because of the injuries to key midfielders like Wilshere, Ramsey and Flamini. Arsenal management does not want this situation in the next season and have decided to move early in this transfer window. Interestingly, Sami Khedira himself spent majority of last season on dressing table because of serious injuries.
According to The Mirror, AC Milanai??i??s Nigel de Jong is the other target of Arsenal this window. The Dutchman is the key player of AC Milan but he is reportedly unhappy with the current situation at Milanello.
Milan failed to qualify for Europe this season but the Dutchman wants to play in the Champions League. Another reason for De Jongai??i??s reported departure is the appointment of Pippo Inzaghi as the new manager. Reports coming out of Italy have indicated earlier that De Jong does not enjoy comfortable relationship with his new boss.
Arsenal are definitely going to sign at least one midfielder during this transfer window and it would be interesting to see how they approach the market in coming days.
