New Arsenal signing Danny Welbeck has revealed that he dreamt of playing for Gunners and is adamant that he has all the attributes to become a prolific striker.
Olivier Giroud, undisputed starter of Arsenal since past few months, injured his ankle few weeks ago and the Gunners were forced to make the signing of Welbeck on the last day of summer transfer window.
Welbeck spoke for the first time after completing his move from Manchester United. He said: “I’ve envisaged myself playing in this team before. For it to finally happen is very exciting. I believe the style of play the manager’s got, the boys play and with the magnificent players in midfield slotting balls through, I can run on to the end of those balls and slot them awayai???. He was speaking to English newspaper The Daily Telegraph.
Welbeck said that he likes the playing style of Arsenal and his ability to play a power game will help his new club. “I’d like to bring pace and power to the game. At Arsenal, we’re not short of combination football and I like to join in on that and get in behind defenders and try to get shots off at goal. I want to score some goals and help the team to achieve the right results.”
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since past many years but Welback said that his new club is now ready make an assault for the top honour again. “I feel like it’s time where we could really push on and try and challenge for the Premier League title,” he said.
“They’ve done well in recent years and last year we got the FA Cup and I feel like it’s time where we could really push on and try and challenge for the Premier League title. I’ve got one medal and it’s something that I really want to add to.ai???
Manchester United signed Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco on the deadline day and Welbeck was deemed as a surplus to requirements at the Old Trafford club.
However, Manchester United were reluctant to sale Welbeck to one of their Premier League title rivals. But Welbeck said that everything happened pretty smoothly. “It went right down to the wire in the end,” said Welbeck.
