Arsenal FC are keen on signing Edinson Cavani from PSG and are willing to offer Olivier Giroud plus A?32m cash to signing the Uruguayan international.
Edinson Cavaniai??i??s future at PSG has come under increased speculations this summer with a host of European clubs being linked with a move for him. His agent recently revealed that the Uruguayan striker has been approached by both Arsenal and Liverpool. Latest reports in English media suggest the Gunners are willing to pursue their interest in the Uruguayan striker with a bid which includes Olivier Giroud.
Edinson Cavani joined PSG last summer in a much talked about A?55m move from Italian club Napoli. The 27-year-old striker won the Ligue 1 title in his first season with the French club as he formed a good partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack. But the striker was mostly used in a wide role by Laurent Blanc in order to accommodate Ibrahimovic in the middle and this was a cause for Cavaniai??i??s frustration.
The former Palermo striker has publicly expressed his displeasure at being used in such a role, and these fuelled speculations regarding his future at the club.
Cavani, who returned from Brazil after some uninspiring performances for Uruguay in the World Cup, reportedlyAi??asked his agent to look for a move to the Premier LeagueAi??this summer. Both Manchester United and Chelsea were put on high alert following these reports. Jose Mourinho was reportedly interested in signing Cavani before the Blues landed Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, while Manchester have been linked with the striker for a long time.
The PSG striker recently rubbished reports of his departure, but his agent revealed that both Arsenal and Liverpool have approached the striker. According to English media, Arsenal are now willing to pursue their interest in Cavani with the Gunners lining up a massive bid to sign the striker.
Arsenal do require another striker in their squad as Olivier Giroud had to shoulder all the responsibility of playing upfront last season. Arsene Wenger does have the option to play Alexis Sanchez as a striker, but addition of someone like Cavani will provide a lift to their title credentials. Arsene Wenger is a fan of the former Napoli forward and has reportedly sanctioned a A?32m bid for him. The deal could also include Olivier Giroud joining the French club in exchange.
PSG are keen on signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, but are being restrained by FFP. The French club will need to sell in order to spend on the Argentine midfielder and Cavaniai??i??s transfer to Arsenal could potentially open up that avenue.
