Arsenal FC defender Bacary Sagna has refuted claims that he has agreed to sign a deal with Manchester City in the summer.
Bacary Sagnaai??i??s current contract with the London club expires at the end of next month and his future has come under a lot of speculations since the end of last season. The Frenchman refused to agree to Arsenalai??i??s offer for a new contract as he looked for pay-rise in what will be the last big contract of his career. Arsene Wenger has earlier expressed his desire to retain the right back, but is already looking for replacements for the 31-year-old.
Recent reports suggested that Manchester City have come to an agreement to sign Bacary Sagna and have offered him a massive A?140,000-a-week deal for three years. But Sagna has now categorically denied these claims, and said that his future remains undecided.
“I have not signed with anybody, agreed with no one. All the English media are sending me to Manchester City, but I don’t have any agreement with them or with anyone else. I have never set foot there. Several European and English clubs have contacted me. Certain talks have gone further than others, and Manchester City are among them.
“But today, I’m still an Arsenal player. It would be good to have everything sorted out before the World Cup, on which I am now completely focused.” ai??i?? The Arsenal defender said in an interview.
Sagna also went onto claim that he is ai???90%ai??? sure about leaving the Emirates in the summer and has thanked the club for providing him the platform to shine since he joined them back in 2007 from Auxerre.
“Today, there’s a 90 percent chance I will leave and 10 percent that I will stay. I have been asking myself that question for a long time, and it’s the time for a new challenge. Arsenal is an extraordinary club that has given me the chance to grow, both in sporting and human terms. It’s a family club, I feel good here. I’ve had some very good years here.” ai??i?? Sagna seemed to have ended his Arsenal career on a high as he lifted the FA Cup after defeating Hull City in the final earlier this month and he expressed his gratitude for the fans and Arsene Wenger for their support throughout his stint at the club.
