Tottenham Sign Capoue
Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of French International Etienne Capoue. The tough tackling midfielder is another impressive addition to a Spurs outfit that mean business this season. His signing is another statement of intent sent forth to the rest of England.
Capoue joins Spurs for a sum reported in the region of A?9m. His arrival takes Spurs overall spending this summer to around A?60m. Capoue has been a mainstay in the heart of Toulouseai??i??s midfield and has gone from strength to strength as time has flown by. His rise to prominence has earned him call-ups to Didier Deschampsai??i?? France National Team.
Capoue has been widely regarded as one of the best midfield destroyers in Ligue 1 and his partnership with another import, Paulinho, remains a tasty prospect. Alongside Dembele, Sandro and the aforementioned Paulinho, Spurs have stacked midfield in an intimidating way but Sporting Director Franco Baldini doesnai??i??t seem keen to take his foot of the gas.
Spurs reportedly have Roma duo Miralem Pjanic and Erik Lamela on their radar. The Roma men will be hard to price away from the Capital outfit but Baldini does know the players well from their time together with the Giallorossi and could try and convince them to jump ship. A deal, for either though, looks unlikely to be reached without an astronomic sum thrown in the mix.
Luiz Gustavo Close To Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs dropped the strongest hint yet that sought after Bayern Munich midfielder, Luis Gustavo, was set to put pen to paper Volkswagen owned side.
“He will leave Bayern and the odds are in our favour.Ai??I believe his decision is imminent.” Allofs said.
Gustavoai??i??s intention to leave the European Champions is no secret and he has attracted the interests of Arsenal and Napoli yet it looks increasingly likely that he will snub the two sides in favor of a move that will keep him in Germany.
Gustavo has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern Munich after the arrival of Thiago from Barcelona. New manager Pep Guardiola does not consider Gustavo indispensable to his side and could see his sale as a way to gather up funds.
Napoli Interested in Mikel
Free spending Napoli have Chelsea midfielder Jon Obi Mikel next on their list. Latest reports suggest that new manager Rafa Benitez has requested for a defensive midfielder with Mikel as well as Barcelonaai??i??s Javier Mascherano shortlisted.
The Nigerian International could be tempted to move to Italy where his chances of first team football could be much more. Napoli intend to ask for the player on a season long loan with an option to make it permanent.
His signing, however, wouldnai??i??t fill up a non-EU spot given that Mikel does hold an English passport. The move could come to fruition as Napoli could offer Mikel more pitch time.
