The defensive midfielder was part of the recent triumphant Brazilian squad in the Confederations Cup. A string of good performances in the tournament and over the season at Bayern, has seen him draw interest, initially from Arsenal and now Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has been extremely consistent since joining them from Hoffenheim back in 2011. But last season, after the arrival of Spanish midfielder Javi Martinez, he lost his place in the starting eleven and was mostly restricted to a role on the bench. Next season, with Pep Guardiola at the helm, question marks have been raised about the future of Gustavo at the German club. Vadillo made his debut for Betis at the age of 16 and became the second youngest player to make his debut in the La Liga. Initially his progress was halted after suffering a serious injury in a match against Real Madrid in 2011, but last season he made a total of 14 appearances for Betis and is now ready to stake a claim as a regular in the starting line-up.

Vadilloai??i??s style of play has often been compared with that of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. The Spanish U-20 international is versatile enough to play as a left winger or as a right winger, and is never shy of taking on defenders and dribbling past them.
