AtlAi??tico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao is unquestionably one of the most coveted players in world football at the moment, with several European giants rumoured to be looking to lure him away from the Spanish capital. The latest reports that emerged are linking him to Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain, two clubs owned by millionaires, either in June or in this very transfer window. Ai??PSG are said to be the frontrunners at the moment, with Falcao himself not ruling out an eventual move to the French capital.
Falcao is considered by many as the best No.9 in the world at the moment and his signing would be a tremendous boost for basically any team in the world. His movement inside the box, touch and killing instinct in front of goal easily make him one of the very best players in the world, one who shall be sold for even more than the A?40 million AtlAi??tico got him for from Porto in the summer of 2011. He’s good enough to pretty much pick his own destination.
The move could go down in January if millionaire clubs like Chelsea or PSG are willing to splash the kind of money that would lure him away from AtlAi??tico in the middle of the season, but smart money would be on a move at the end of the season. Falcao will probably want to conclude a so far extraordinary season at AtlAi??tico before moving on to a new challenge and a much higher pay check, not to mention the prospect of linking up with such players as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Juan Mata, among other world class players. Real Madrid are also strongly linked to the Colombian star, but given the extreme rivalry with AtlAi??tico it’s unlikely such move will ever materialize.
While a move in January might be unlikely, you can’t put past Chelsea and PSG making an offer that AtlAi??tico can’t refuse. Chelsea’s form in the Premier League isn’t exactly encouraging while PSG would majorly increase their Champions League hopes with Falcao around. The Colombian hasn’t played a single minute in European competition with AtlAi??tico this season, with Diego Simeone saving him for La Liga, which could make a January move to a Champions League contender more viable. The next few days might give us a better indication of whether and when these rumours will materialize and what will be the next step of one of football’s most coveted players at the moment.
