Borussia MAi??nchengladbach have come to terms with Freiburg over the signing of Max Kruse.
Borussia MAi??nchengladbach havenai??i??t been able to replicate their brilliance of last season in the ongoing campaign, especially due to the departures from the club over the summer. With foreign imports failing to fit into the club and European football still not a guarantee, the Foals have reportedly delved into the transfer market already, signing Freiburg attacker Max Kruse.
Their need to reinforce the attacking department grew last month when the club announced that they would not be renewing Mike Hankeai??i??s contract. Igor de Camargoai??i??s move to Hoffenheim in January has seen Gladbachai??i??s strike force look all the more insipid and left Lucien Favre with far too few options.
Kruse has been an integral part of the immensely impressive Freiburg side of this season. The German attacker has been used in a free role this season, usually used as a support striker. With seven goals and seven assists to his name so far, Kruse is a steal for Gladbach, the transfer costing a meager 2.5 million Euros, which is a speculated minimum release clause.
Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl is yet to confirm the deal but he has shown a clear inclination towards signing Kruse. ai???Yes, it is true! Kruse has penned a contract until 2017 and should prove to be a key figure in Gladbachai??i??s hopes of remerging as a regular side in European competitions. Lucien Favreai??i??s recent shift to a 4-4-2 formation should allow for Kruse to stick to a role similar to the current one at Freiburg and his link up with Luuk de Jong could prove to be an interesting one. Along with an already exciting attacking trio of Patrick Herrmann, Juan Arango and Amin Younes, Max Kruse should be set for a quality time at Borussia Park.
