Stoke City goalkeeper, Asmir Begovic, is pleased with reported interest from Manchester United.
The 25-year-old custodian has performed brilliant for Stoke City over the past three seasons and has been one of the most consistent goalkeeper in the Premier League. The Bosnian international, who was signed from Portsmouth back in 2010, has now been lined with a move away from the Britannia Stadium with League leaders Manchester United reportedly interested in his service.
United keeper David De Gea has been in excellent form this season, but Anders Lindegaardai??i??s future at Old Trafford is in doubt with the Danish custodian likely to depart from the club as he looks for more first-team action. United are in the market for another goalkeeper in the summer and Begovic has expressed his delight at being able to attract such high profile interest. Although the goalkeeper has stressed the fact that he is happy at Stoke City, he hasnai??i??t fully dismissed the rumours of a possible move next summer.
“I’m not under more pressure because United are watching me.
“I’m glad that they do because that means I’m doing something good. It gives me more motivation to do better and better.
“I’m pleased that the big clubs are interested in me but as I have said many times – I’m happy at Stoke City because they gave me a chance do play in Premier League.
“We will see what will happen in the summer. In football you can never know 100 per cent.” ai??i?? Begovic was quoted in press.
Although Begovic might be seen as a replacement for Lindegaard, but he is more than likely to challenge De Gea for the No.1 spot. De Gea, despite pulling out some great performances throughout the season, still needs time and experience to improve his consistency. Moreover, Begovic is not only highly experienced, he is also a leader at the back and someone who can organise defence and dominate the box, something which De Gea is yet to learn.
