Aston Villa and Everton are looking to provide a new lease of life to Manchester City outcast Scott Sinclair in the summer.
In fact the only time Sinclair has made it to the headlines this season was when Mario Balotelli, reportedly, made a wild lunging tackle on Sinclair in the training ground which ensued a ruckus between Roberto Mancini and the Italian striker.
The former England U-21 international has made only two starts for City since joining the club along with six appearances as a sub. When Mancini brought him, it was believed that the Italian mastermind was looking to add width to his side, but he has been unable to fit him into his system. The Manchester City manager has accepted that Sinclair hasnai??i??t received the chance he deserved and has even apologised for it.
“I haven’t given him a chance. It’s not his fault. He’s working well every day and he hasn’t caused any problems. I’m very sorry.” ai??i?? Mancini said few days back.
But then again, did Sinclair really believe he would be able to displace the likes of Silva or Tevez in the starting eleven? Even Milner, although a footballer of modest talents, has been preferred to him due to his work rate and defensive capabilities.
According to reports, Aston Villa and Everton are interested in signing Sinclair next season, and if the former Chelsea man is in his right mind he would grab this opportunity with both hands, because things are only going to get worse at City. The club is surely bring in more big names after their disappointing season and when the future of players like Nasri and Dzeko is in doubts one can only assume City will be more than glad to let go off Sinclair, albeit accepting him as a mistake in the transfer market.
Everton seem to be the favourites in landing Sinclair, as City would be interested in using him in order to bring in Marouane Fellaini to the Etihad Stadium. Sinclair could be part of a cash plus player offer for the Belgium international. Moreover there are still doubts whether Aston Villa would be able to survive relegation this season and Sinclair would certainly consider a move to the Championship as a but step-down in his career at this point. Although he will have to take a pay-cut in order to facilitate a move to either of the clubs.
It is ironical that Swansea City, the club he left, have won a trophy whereas City are likely to end without any silverware this season. What would he give now to make return to the Liberty Stadium, but given the strength of Swanseaai??i??s current starting line-up he might have only found a place on the bench at the Welsh club.
