Liverpool FC and Borussia Dortmund are looking to make a move for Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann in the summer.
The 21-year-old has seen his stock rise over the period of this season. It is his first full season with the club, after spending most of the past two seasons on loan at Watford and he has impressed one and all. Weimann has already scored 11 goals this season in all competition and in what otherwise has been a fairly disappointing season for Villa, Weimann and Benteke have been their only positives.
But Weimannai??i??s future is up for speculations. The Austrian international has one and a half year left in his contract and he is yet to reach an agreement with the club over a contract extension. It seems like the forward will wait to see whether Villa are able to retain their Premier League status, before committing his future to the club.
Latest reports suggest that Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing the youngster and are closely monitoring his contract situation at the club. Brendan Rodgers will look to sign another forward this summer and Weimann can be brought at a potentially bargain price considering the fact that he is yet to sign a long term contract.
Weimannai??i??s versatility also makes him a big asset as he can play in any role in the front three. With Suarezai??i??s future reportedly in doubts and Borini failing to make an impact due to injury, Rodgers will need to strengthen upfront.
Dortmund have also suffered from a fairly disappointing domestic season, despite their good run in Europe. The German club will look to flex their muscle in the transfer market this summer as they prepare to face Pep Guardiola led Bayern Munich next season. With Robert Lewandowski looking likely to leave in the summer, Jurgen Klopp will need to find a replacement. Although Weimann is unlikely to be seen as a replacement for Polish international, he will add a different dimension to the attack with his direct approach.
The 21-year-old has also been linked with Italian giants Inter, and although his agent has dismissed those rumours, Paul Lambert knows he will find it difficult to retain Weimann at the club. He along with Benteke might be on the move this summer.
