Ryan Bertrand to Liverpool?
Liverpool have again shown interest in Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand according to theAi??Daily Mail.
Cesar Azpilicueta has been starting for Chelsea of late with veteranAi??Ashley Cole losing the starting berth in Mourinho’s plans. This means that Bertrand comes third in the Chelsea manager’s mind, behind Azilpilicueta and Cole.
It is believed that Liverpool will try to lure the English player, who can also play in the winger role, to Anfield in a bid to increase squad depth and add quality to the squad.
Even though youngster Jon Flanagan has impressed in his most recent outings filling in for injured Spaniard Jose Enrique, Rodgers wants to rope in another player from Chelsea who he worked with in the reserve team when he was coach there.
Bertrand has only started one Premier League fixture this season and probably will want to move out of the club, especially when he can be coached and guided by a same familiar old figure.
THT Verdict: Not likely
Even though Mourinho will not particularly rue in case Bertrand decides to leave the club, Liverpool is coping nicely without Enrique at the moment with youngster Flanagan making the left back role his own. In fact, Flanagan has impressed so much that he surpassed Valencia loanee Aly Cisokkho in the pecking order. Thus, this arrival might not be on the cards, as Rodgers will want to develop an academy product into a first team player.
