Chelsea FC Step Up Their Interest In Real Madrid Midfielder Sami Khedira

Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho has marked Sami Khedira as his prime target in the next transfer window and the London club are lining up a bid for him.

Sami Khedira, who joined the Spanish club back in 2010 from Stuttgart, is yet to win over all the Real Madrid fans despite making 137 appearances for the club so far. After the departure of Jose Mourinho from the Spanish capital, the German international was linked with a move away from La Liga. Sami Khedira has already voiced his concern regarding the departure of Mesut Ozil this summer and reports suggest that he believes that the time has come for him to take up a new challenge as well.

Manchester United were one of the clubs who were linked with a move for the 26-year-old at the start of this season. But the move failed to materialize and United signed Marouane Fellaini from Everton on the deadline day. But the Belgium international is yet to justify the enormous price tag and David Moyes feels that his side require further reinforcement in the winter transfer window. The United manager sees Sami Khedira as the perfect answer to their midfield concerns and is expected to make a move for him in January.

Arsenal are also reportedly interested in him, but Chelsea are currently the favourites in this race for his signature. Jose Mourinho, who worked close with him during his time at Real Madrid, has made him his priority in the winter transfer window. Although Chelsea have a lot of talent and option in the attacking third of the pitch, Mourinho is not completely satisfied with the options he has at the center of the park. Chelsea need a long term replacement for Lampard, while Essien seems to be past his best and Mikel is not consistent enough. Marco van Ginkel is still too young and raw to be a first team regular at this moment. Ramires is the only midfielder who seems to be the part of Jose Mourinhoai??i??s long term plans at the moment.

The Chelsea manager has already expressed his desire to sign the Real Madrid midfielder to owner Roman Abramovich and the London club are preparing a move for him. Reports from Spain suggest that Sami Khedira is also willing to hold talks with the London club and would chose them over Manchester United or Arsenal.

Real Madrid is believed to be willing to sell their German midfielder, but at the right price. Khediraai??i??s current contract with the club expires in 2015 and the Spanish giants will be unwilling to entertain any bid below A?40 million according to Dailystar.
