Mourinho to add Benzema, Berahino and Otamendi; Lukaku wants to score more than Chelsea strikers; De Bruyne Fit for Belgium
Chelsea FCai??i??s forward line is already thin and Jose Mourinho is expected to add strikers to his squad over the January transfer window. The Blues havenai??i??t scored a single goal in the Premier League between their strikers Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and the newly signed Samuel Etoai??i??o. This has prompted rumours that Chelsea will be in for a striker in January.
Real Madridai??i??s Karim Benzema reuniting with Mourinho,Ai??remains to be in the rumour even now, with new reports linking the Frenchman, who is finding times hard in Madrid, to make the switch to the Londoners.
One striker who wants to score more goals than any other Chelsea striker is their Belgian attacker Romelu Lukaku, currently on loan at Everton. Lukaku had earlier spoken of his wish to get a loan move away from Chelsea as he knew he didnai??i??t feature primarily in Mourinhoai??i??s plans. However, the Belgian has shown great form for Everton this season and Mourinho must have been left scratching his head given the inability of his own strikers to find the net in the Premier League this season. Lukaku wants to prove to Mourinho that he has what it takes to be a starter at Chelsea. And what better way to do it than score more goals than the current Chelsea strikers:

Apart from Benzema, another goalscorer who has caught the Portuguese managerai??i??s eye is West Brom prodigy Saido Berahino. The England U-21 international, who was born in Burundi, has already scored five goals in seven appearances this term for the Baggies, the most high profile being his goal in West Bromai??i??s win over Manchester United. The youngster is currently believed to be on a measly A?850 per week and Chelsea believe they can snap him up for a fee of A?5 million, in addition to a significant rise in his wages.
Another youngster on Mourinhoai??i??s radar is Ajaxai??i??s highly rated forward Viktor Fisher. Fisher scored 10 Eridivisie goals last season and has since then been on many big clubai??i??s radar. Chelsea are interested in going for him, but it looks like Roma is favourites to land the forward.
Spanish daily Marca claim that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Porto to sign their Argentine centre back Nicolas Otamendi next summer. Chelsea have apparently fought off interest from Barcelona and Milan in securing the services of the defender. Chelsea currently have three proper centre backs in their squad ai??i?? captain John Terry, his England teammate Gary Cahill and the Brazilian David Luiz. Branislav Ivanovic is seen more of a right back and Mourinho would like to strengthen his defence by signing a new centre half. Otamendi is highly rated and participated in World Cup 2010 under Diego Maradona, where he inexplicably played at right-back. However, he has since played in his more favoured central defence role for Velez Sarsfield and Porto, and Mourinho is thought to see him as a defender for the future as John Terry ages.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has declared Chelsea youngster Kevin De Bruyne is not on Dortmundai??i??s radar for January. Klopp has said he is happy with the squad at his disposal and De Bruyne is not a player that interests him at the moment. Klopp said:
“We have signed great players over the summer. We have a squad we are very happy with.”
“He [Kevin de Bruyne] is actually no one we are after. He is at Chelsea and given the size and quality of the Chelsea first-team squad it’s quite usual he may sometimes miss out on one or two matches.”
De Bruyne is currently on international duty with Belgium as they take on Croatia in their Group A World cup Qualifier. There were concerns that De Bruyne had injured his ankle while training for Chelsea but the Belgian has declared himself fit for the game tweeting the following:
