Schalke are looking to replace interim manager Jens Keller with Eintracht FrankfurtAi??manager Armin Veh.
Jens Keller was entrusted with the managerial role of the club till the end of the current season, after Huub Stevens was sacked in December. But Schalkeai??i??s recent exit from the hands of Champions League has put a question mark on his future at the club.
Reports in Germany suggest that Schalke are already looking for his replacement and they have made a short list of probable candidates for the job ai??i?? which includes former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo, Mike Buskens and Heynckes. The latest name added to that list is that of Franfurt manager Armin Veh.
The 52-year-old is having a wonderful season with Frankfurt who are currently fourth in the Bundesliga table and just six points away from the Champions League qualification spot. It has been a miraculous achievement given they have managed to outperform clubs like Schalke, Mainz and Borussia MAi??nchengladbach.
Frankfurt Chairman, Heribert Bruchhagen, has reacted to these rumours saying he is unaware of Schalkeai??i??s interest.
“If there is a Schalke offer only Armin Veh and Horst Heldt know about it”Ai??ai??i?? he was quoted in press.
Meanwhile Frankfurt general manager, Bruno Hubner, has believes it is only natural for someone like Veh to attract interest from other clubs given his success at Frankfurt. He said –
“We can live with that. As when a coach is successful, he will always be interesting for other clubs. It was like that last year. Veh has done an exceptional job. Just like with our players the focus is now on him. That’s down to our development.”
Armin Veh has however dismissed these rumours, saying ai??i??
“I am not in the mood to comment on such nonsense.ai???
Armin Veh has, for a while now, shown little if no inclination towards extending his stay at Eintracht Frankfurt. The mastermind behind Eintracht’s rapid resurgence seems to be seeking greener pastures and what better place than Schalke. The Royal Blues looked set to stay under interim manager Jens Keller’s tutelage but their Champions League exit might have catalysed the move for Veh. Even if this move doesn’t materialize next week, it seems a guarantee at the end of the season.
