Borussia Dortmund General Manager Michael Zorc has expressed the German clubai??i??s interest in Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
But he has a wonderful goal scoring record for someone who has mostly featured as a substitute. In fact out of his 25 appearances in the league this season, Dzeko has started in only 12 of those games and he has managed to score 12 goals during that period as well.
The Bosnian international has been linked with a move back to the Bundesliga. In fact Dzeko has accepted that he would love to return to Germany in an interview a few days back. The striker has also expressed his admiration for Jurgen Klopp and Borussia Dortmund, but has denied claims that he is already in talks with the club.
Dortmund CEO Watzke has also rubbished those rumours pointing it out as ai???total nonsenseai??i??. But the rumours refused to die down and reports in Germany claimed that the German clubai??i??s officials have already started their negotiations with Manchester City last month. And finally the club has, perhaps for the first time, publicly accepted their interest in Dzeko.
Dortmundai??i??s General Manager Michael Zorc has said that they are ai???keenai??i?? on the striker but accepts that Cityai??i??s asking price and Dzekoai??i??s high wages might prove to be stumbling block in this deal.
“There should be little doubt about Edin Dzeko being a top-class striker,” Zorc told Sport-Bild weekly.
“He is a great forward and a player one should be keen on. However there is also still somewhat of an economic aspect.
“It would be down to pure maths because Edin Dzeko is under contract at Manchester City beyond the end of the season.” ai??i?? The Borussia Dortmund General Manager was quoted in press.
Inter and Juventus have also been linked with Dzeko, but the Bosnianai??i??s desire to play in the Bundesliga might put Dortmund in a favourable position to land the striker, as they look for a replacement for Lewandowski , who is expected to leave at the end of the season. But Dzeko will also have to take a pay-cut in order to push through a move to the reigning German champions.
