Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Hamburg striker Son Heung-Min as Andre SchA?rrle departs to Chelsea.
Son has signed a five-year contract with Leverkusen in a deal announced today. This was announced on the same day when Andre SchA?rrleai??i??s transfer to Chelsea was officially confirmed by the London club. Although SchA?rrle is a big loss for the German side, in Son they might have found an able replacement.
The 20-year-old has had a fantastic season with Hamburg, where he scored 12 goals and provided two assists. The South Korean was one of the prime reasons why Hamburg managed to finish in the top half of the table and were even in contention for a Champions League qualification spot at one stage ai??i?? although they eventually finished seventh, three points behind Frankfurt.
Andre SchA?rrleai??i??s transfer to Chelsea was on hold until the German club had signed an adequate replacement. Leverkusen Chairman Wolfgang Holzhauser confirmed both the deals and expressed his delight at the capture of such a talented young footballer.

Son is a very versatile forward. Although he has largely played up front for Hamburg last season, he can also play as a right winger, left winger or in the hole behind the striker. The 20-year-old has all the attributes one can associate with a Korean footballer: pace, stamina and agility. Last season, he has shown maturity beyond his years, and it looks like Leverkusen fans might get over the loss of SchA?rrle sooner than expected.
