Construction of the this iconic arena was started in 1925 in the district of Milan named San Siro, with the new stadia originally named “Nuovo Stadio Calcistico San Siro”.Ai??Piero Pirelli; the then President of Milan first conceptualized the idea of building a new stadium. The construction of the stadium took more than 15 months to complete and inauguration was made on 19 September 1926, when 35,000 spectators saw Inter beat Milan 6ai??i??3. San Siro has long been the subject of development plans both for the Rossoneri and cohabitants Inter and it is reported that the formerai??i??s increasingly active board member is trying again. However, the new owner of Inter, Eric Thohir is also evaluating the options of building a brand new stadium for his club with intention of increasing the avenues of more revenue through the ownership of the stadium.
The most important reason given for the Milan director Barbara Berlusconiai??i??s latest effort lies in the Financial Fair Play rule of UEFA. Like all other Italian teams (with only exception of Juventus), Milan do not ai???ownai??? their stadium and hence miss on enormous avenues of income generation e.g. the ones enjoyed by the EPL, La Liga and Bundesliga clubs. Milan has struggled to raise enough money for the acquisition of top level talent and the new plans will help them in the longer run to earn the same.
Berlusconi met with Milan cityai??i??s deputy mayor Ada Lucia De Cesaris and Alfonso Cefalielo, a director from M-I Stadio, the company that manages San Siro, to reportedly discuss a number of themes relating to the ground, including its future.
