Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has put Neymar as his top transfer target, as he wants the club to put behind a disappointing summer transfer window.
Various reports have claimed that Barcelona are the favorites to land the youngster as they have already held advanced talks with Santos. While media has reported that Barcelona have already paid Santos the first installment of Neymarai??i??s transfer fee, the Brazilian club has denied such rumours. Real Madrid have also been linked with the forward, but have seemingly fallen behind in the race for his signature.
Now, according to various English media, Manchester City have entered the race for the Brazilian wonder boy. City have had a disappointing summer transfer window, where they failed to sign their primary transfer targets Robin van Persie and De Rossi. Mancini has earlier publicly voiced his concern for their lack of activity in the transfer market. Now the Italian wants City to spend big once again as he looks to sign Neymar ahead of Barcelona.
Mancini has said that he is unsure of reports claiming Barcelona has already made a down payment for Neymar but Mancini hopes that he, along with Txiki Begiristain, can put City in a very strong position in the next three or four years.

Manchester City have recently appointed Txiki Begiristain as the director of football at the club. Begiristain has already tried to sign Neymar during his Barcelona days and many believe that he could be the key behind Cityai??i??s ambitious bid to lure the Brazlian prodigy into signing for the English club.
But presently there are enough question marks on whether Mancini will be at the club in near future. Cityai??i??s owner are said to be frustrated with the teamai??i??s poor performance in the Champions league and if they fail to retain the Premier League, Mancini could well removed from the helm.
While City do have the financial power to compete with Barcelona and even out muscle them in the transfer market, but at the moment the Spanish giants seem to have the first denial on Neymar. Also the fact that City owners have recently shown disinclination towards spending big in the transfer market, makes it even for unlikely that they would spend A?50-A?60 million on a single player.
