Newcastle and Manchester United have served up an interesting rivalry in recent years. It also reminds us of the power of Fergie’s famous mind games that led to Kevin Keegan’s infamous rantAi??on television. Newcastle threw away the title then, but produced one of their best results ever the following season by thrashing United 5-0 at St. James’ Park. Eight years later, it was Fergie’s turn to stand tall on the same ground after a sensational 2-6 drubbing of the Magpies.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s game though, we choose to remind you of another special game played more than a decade ago, in 2001. This one was a closely-fought epic that turned out to be one of the best league games of the Premier League era.
