After a dismal start to the season, Milan seems to have regained some form in the past few weeks. The worst start in over 70 years was followed by rumors of sacking and buying players in the transfer window due to open in January. Some sources even linked Balotelli to Milan this time; with owner Berlusconi himself stating that the player needs to make his situation untenable at his present club for Milan to make a move. Apparently this was borne out of the wonderful partnership which was on view in the match where Balotelli and El Shaarawy combined quite effortlessly and brilliantly. While some Milan fans are happy at this link, others are asking ai??i?? “Why Always Him?”
Milan and Allegri
After all the finger-pointing at the start of the season and rightly so, Allegri seems to be on a mini-roll now. Three back-to-back wins
Facing Napoli at San Paolo is a daunting task on any given day and more so with the incredible form the home team was in. Soft goals from Inler and Insigne pegged back Milan but they were once more rescued by the Little Pharaoh ai??i?? El Shaarawy. Inlerai??i??s goal was a weird one and even Abbiati commented that the last time the ball swerved this much in air was when Pirlo did that to him in practice. Nonetheless, if it were not for these soft goals, the fight back and the eventual brace from Milanai??i??s savior would not have that significance. Galliani was shouting abuses at Abbiati from the stands and even though he later apologized both privately and publicly to him, the damage was done. The other keeper of Milan, Amelia even went on record saying that he and Abbiati are the best goal-keeping pair in Italy presently. Hearing this, everyone wondered if he was referring to his FIFA 13 team.
Milan faced Juventus next and a slug fight was expected. Last year, this same match witnessed throat-grabbing, shirt-pulling and whatnot dished out by Lichtsteiner on Muntari. Even ghost goals were on fans’ minds as mind-games started even before a single shot was taken. Sadly, the Old Lady was polite this time and even did not protest the penalty. Somewhere else, Luciano Moggi looked at a mirror and claimed that the referee was pressurized to give the penalty as he was seen as pro-Juve by some. Sadly, he could not be reached for any more comments as he is currently being scouted by English and Spanish clubs.
The sudden rise of Robinho
Robinho, out of all the people, suddenly came out of injury and began performing as if he was never sidelined this year. While that was indeed a breath of fresh air, rumors of his move to Santos appeared to dampen this upbeat mood. However, Milan recently came out saying that they are not going to sell either Robinho or Pato in this transfer window. It looks like Milan are trying to compete with Juventus to create another Bendtner.
Pato, on the other hand is frustrated at the lack of opportunities that have come his way. But given the fact that he tends to crumble like a cookie when left open on the field for 15 minutes, Allegri can hardly be faulted for this. Pato even went on record saying that he will talk to his agent and discuss his ‘situation’. The Milan faithful rightfully hanged a banner in his honor saying ai??i?? “He who has Milan in their heart, doesn’t call his agent“.
Taking a look at the other players in the team, the first name that comes up is that of Boateng. After taking a record 44 shots at the top tier of the stadium, one finally landed at the back of the net! Boateng was over the moon following his goal against Catania. However, his delight was cut short as the referee dismissed him saying that his tattoo was too frightening for Catania players. Boateng thus earned his second red this season and proudly went to the locker room where Melissa Satta was waiting for him. New Milan hero – De Sciglio
Looking at the back-line, one only finds De Sciglio and wonders how far the young talent has come this season. This is his first full year with the first team and already he is a fixture in the starting line-up. His ability to play almost anywhere at the back is not only a huge asset to Milan but helps in covering Boneraai??i??s ever growing list of faults. But, that being said, Bonera has been the most efficient central defender for Milan this season.
The subject of many internet trolls, Bonera is looking to make an impression finally at the back. Coming back to De Sciglio – he has been absolutely phenomenal this season. From the early matches where he was marauding down the left flank to his recent forays down the right, he has been everywhere at the back. He has been the El Shaarawy of the Milan defence. Not only is he an excellent crosser, passer and tackler of the ball, he can hold on to the ball and is superb in aerial duels. Needless to say, Milan fans have warmed to this Milanello product both due to his on-field and off-field behavior.
After the departure of Maldini, there hasnai??i??t been a player in Milan ranks who can command respect for his performances, and from the looks of it, De Sciglio is headed down that path. Not only is he level-headed and a cool customer, the level of maturity he is displaying at this young age of 20 is more than what most defenders do at their prime. All in all, the recent run of results have been a source of positive energy at Milan and Allegri can look forward to making a statement this season with De Sciglio and El Shaarawy leading the way.
