There seems to be some confusion regarding arrival of Hernan Crespo, the most expensive player in PLS auction. The Argentine signed for Barasat franchisee on last day of European transfer window but is yet to get the International clearance certificate to play in India. Crespo is also reportedly more interested to play in China or Qatar.

I-League clubs are coming on a warpath with AIFF regarding the way I-League is being organized. Representatives of several clubs will meet in Mumbai in Tuesday, next week. The officials from Mohun Bagan, Prayag United, all four Goan clubs, Pune FC and both Mumbai clubs are expected to attend this meeting. The clubs are demanding the I-League to be modelled after J-League which will de-centralize power from AIFF. They will be demanding a J-League styled organizing committee for I-League. The 20 member committee will include representatives from each of the 14 participating clubs. Another proposal of the meeting will be to demand part of the money obtained by Federation from selling of TV Broadcasting rights. AIFF is reportedly unimpressed with this effort and trying to prevent this meeting.

The most notable event on I-League second division on Thursday was Baichung Bhutia taking to field for United Sikkim FC. USFC was trailing against Bhawanipore AC and Bhutia’s arrival triggered a comeback which saw them win 3-2. Baichung didn’t score a goal but his presence itself acted as a source of inspiration.

Pune FC ‘A’ team reached Pokhara in Nepal to play the 10th Aaha Gold Cup. The team is made up with players from Peninisula Pune Football Club Academy (PPFCA) and will start the campaign against Sahara Cup on 4th February.

Sunando Dhar had this to say about Premier League Soccer:
“We fully backed the tournament. We have given written permission to the IFA to hold the tournament. Our only concern is that we want correct procedures to be taken on the participation of international players. A few international players are still active. We have to ensure correct international transfer management in their case. If there is any problem in their case, say if there arises any issues regarding their salary payment, FIFA will hold AIFF responsible. We don’t want to tarnish the image of AIFF and Bengal football”
