Real Madrid prospects Juanmi Latasa and Sergio Arribas have emerged as targets for La Liga club Getafe, with talks ongoing over a potential deal for the duo.
According to MARCA, Getafe are plotting another raid on Real Madrid this summer for academy duo Juanmi Latasa and Sergio Arribas after already signing Borja Mayoral from the Spanish and European champions.
Mayoral recently joined Getafe on a permanent transfer after spending the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan with the Azulones. And he could now be followed by two more Real Madrid prospects to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, as Quique Sanchez Flores’s side are keen on signing Latasa and Arribas.
Latasa has been part of Real Madrid’s setup since 2016 and has grown into a regular for the club’s Castilla outfit under Raul Gonzalez. In 50 appearances for the reserve team, he has netted 18 goals, while the striker has made just a solitary appearance for Los Blancos’ senior side so far.
Heading into the new season, there had been speculations that Latasa could be set for a more prominent role in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans as Real Madrid lack a reliable backup for Karim Benzema. However, the 21-year-old was hardly used by the Real Madrid manager during the pre-season, following which the youngster is now considering his future at the Santiago Bernabeu as he seeks regular minutes at the first-team level.
Getafe have presented themselves as a potential destination for Latasa, as manager Quique Sanchez Flores remains keen on adding another striker to his squad amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Jaime Mata and Enes Unal. Real Madrid and Getafe are, thus, in talks over a potential move which could see Los Blancos retain a 50% sell-on clause or a future repurchase option, while a loan move is also an option.
At the same time, Getafe are also keen on signing another Real Madrid prospect, Sergio Arribas, and have enquired about his availability. The 20-year-old has been on the Merengues’ books since 2012, when he arrived from Leganes. He has been billed as one of the brightest prospects coming through La Fabrica.
Arribas enjoyed a stunning 2021/22 season during which he plundered 15 goals and seven assists for Real Madrid’s Castilla team. The 20-year-old has made ten senior appearances for the Spanish capital club. But given the plethora of options in midfield at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal, a pathway into the first-team setup is currently blocked for the youngster.
Arribas has recently attracted the interest of newly-promoted La Liga side Girona, with Getafe also enquiring about the possibility of signing the Spanish prospect. Real Madrid have allowed prospects like Takefusa Kubo, Victor Chust, Mario Gila and Miguel Gutierrez to leave the club this summer, and it will be interesting to see whether Latasa and Arribas will be the next ones out.
