Ez Abde open to joining Elche

Ez Abde is reportedly open to joining Elche CF in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding his Barcelona future.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, several clubs from La Liga, including Elche CF, are keen on signing Ez Abde from Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old prodigy is open to joining the Valencian club this month to secure first-team experience.

Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, better known as Ez Abde, spent most of his formative years at different Valencian Community clubs before graduating from the Hercules academy in 2019. The Moroccan whizkid joined Barcelona last summer and has made gradual progress since then as he has had to suffice with mostly turning out for the Catalan club’s reserve side.

The 20-year-old has also featured 11 times for the Barcelona first team, making an impression during a difficult period for the Blaugrana. But his opportunities have dried up in 2022, with Barcelona spending significant sums to make several attacking reinforcements, including Ferran Torres, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski.

Ez Abde is thus frustrated about the lack of first-team chances at Camp Nou and will likely look to leave Barcelona in the summer transfer window. Such a situation has captured the attention of various clubs from La Liga, including Elche CF.

The interest from Elche is hardly surprising, considering Francisco Rodriguez has a couple of wide attackers who are on the wrong side of 30. The Valencian outfit has also lost Pablo Piatti this summer, while Lucas Boye is recovering from an injury.

Elche will thus need to bolster the attacking department in the summer transfer window, making Ez Abde a viable target. And the 20-year-old prodigy is open to joining Los Franjiverdes from Barcelona in the summer transfer window. But with several other La Liga clubs, including Girona, keen on signing him, Elche will need to ramp up the efforts to land him.

But before leaving Barcelona, Abde will likely sign a contract extension, with the Blaugrana looking to send him out on loan instead of selling him permanently. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Moroccan prodigy as he looks to secure regular first-team minutes in the 2022/23 season.
