Crystal Palace have joined West Ham United in the chase for Hirving Lozano, with Napoli eager to sell at the right price.
According to Area Napoli, Hirving Lozano is a man in demand in the Premier League, as Crystal Palace become the latest team to join the chase for the Mexican attacker. West Ham United are also interested in the Napoli star, who could be allowed to leave at the right price.
Napoli paid around €45 million in the summer of 2019 to sign Lozano from PSV, with the Mexican choosing the Italian side over many clubs from the Premier League. Things have not gone all too well for him in Serie A, and it may be time for a move away.
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is open to offers and could sell the Mexican if the price is right. Napoli want atleast €30 million from suitors, although clubs from the Premier League with interest in the winger are only willing to go as far as €20 million.
Crystal Palace become the latest team to join the chase for Lozano as Patrick Vieira eyes a signing to shore up his attacking options. They have Michael Olise on the right wing, with the youngster primed to start regularly in the upcoming season.
However, competition for places is deemed necessary for the club’s progression as Palace continue to search for options. Dwight McNeil is being considered by the Eagles. Lozano, however, represents someone with a higher pedigree, having played for top clubs like PSV and Napoli.
West Ham are also keen on Lozano, with Moyes eyeing attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season. Similar to Palace, the Hammers have a starting player in the position in Jarrod Bowen. But, competition and depth are required to allow the manager to rotate regularly.
Apart from the transfer fee issue, Lozano’s wages could become a problem. He currently earns a net salary of €4.5 million per year and might have to take a pay cut before joining either Premier League side.
De Laurentiis is keen to recoup at least €30 million, although the Napoli supremo is willing to wait until January if no agreement could be reached in the summer. However, Lozano could see his value diminish in January, considering he has entered the final two years of his contract.
With good experience playing in Europe, Lozano would suit either English side. His direct style of play could make him a good fit in the Premier League. Whether Palace or West Ham make a more concrete approach to sign him will be interesting to see.
