Bayern Munich raise Robert Lewandowski price tag again

Barcelona will reportedly have to shell out €70 million to secure the services of priority attacking target Robert Lewandowski in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona will have to pay a higher sum than €50 million to secure the services of Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich will now tell the Blaugrana to cough up €70 million for the Polish international.

The Robert Lewandowski transfer saga continues to get engulfed in uncertainties with every passing day. But one thing that is clear is that the 33-year-old is not leaving Bayern Munich without burning all his bridges with the Bavarian giants, although that is not all his doing.

The Bundesliga champions are arguably being unreasonable by imposing stumbling blocks one after another to deny Barcelona the chance to sign the Polish international. Lewandowski, who has a brilliant record of 344 goals and 72 assists in 374 appearances for Bayern Munich, is admittedly keen on departing from the Allianz Arena, with Barcelona his preferred destination.

The Catalan giants view Lewandowski as their priority target for the summer transfer window as they continue to remodel their squad under Xavi Hernandez’s watchful eye. While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was a solid addition to the Barcelona squad in the second half of the 2021/22 season, Xavi does not have another prolific scorer in his team.

Signing Lewandowski is thus necessary for Barcelona heading into the 2022/23 season, where they will have aspirations of competing for the league title, among other honours. But Barcelona’s attempts to sign the 33-year-old have been unsuccessful thus far, with Bayern Munich knocking back three bids from the Blaugrana.

Recent reports have suggested that the Catalan giants are finally ready to shell out a fixed payment of €50 million to prise Robert Lewandowski away from the Allianz Arena. But Bayern Munich’s latest stunt will unlikely leave Barcelona and the Polish international impressed, as they are now demanding €70 million to part ways with their star striker.

It is unclear how Barcelona will respond to another price change. But chances are they will unlikely succumb to the new demand, considering Raphinha will join them from Leeds United in a big-money sum in the summer transfer window. The Robert Lewandowski transfer saga continues to drag on.
