Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered Barcelona the chance to wantaway Manchester United forward and Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
According to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Jorge Mendes has taken matters into his own hands when it comes to the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese super-agent has offered the wantaway Manchester United forward and Real Madrid legend to Barcelona over a possible move in the summer transfer window.
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in a surprise move last summer, ending a three-year stint with Juventus that yielded trophies but was largely unsatisfactory. But things did not improve much at Manchester United, even though Ronaldo enjoyed personal success.
The 38-year-old was Manchester United’s top scorer in the forgettable 2021/22 campaign, scoring 24 goals and providing three assists in 38 games. But as soon as Manchester United failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, the media started to speculate about Ronaldo’s future. And the Real Madrid legend recently expressed his desire to depart from Old Trafford.
Ronaldo has subsequently emerged on the radars of several high-profile clubs across Europe, with Napoli recently joining the race to sign him. And now, the veteran attacker’s agent Jorge Mendes has offered the Real Madrid icon to Barcelona in a surprise move.
The Catalan giants have blown hot and cold since Lionel Messi’s emotional exit from Camp Nou last summer, perfectly illustrated by Memphis Depay being their top scorer with just 13 goals in the 2021/22 season. And in the search to replace Messi’s goals, Robert Lewandowski has emerged as the priority target for Barcelona.
But with Bayern Munich imposing stumbling blocks one after another, Barcelona will have to keep a contingency plan, one that Mendes has offered to them. The Portuguese super-agent has given Barcelona the opportunity to secure the services of wantaway Manchester United forward Ronaldo.

But even though Ronaldo might be a brilliant short-term addition to the first-team setup at Camp Nou, a move to Barcelona is highly unlikely, considering the player’s illustrious past with Real Madrid. The Portuguese icon spent nine successful years at Real Madrid, winning the UEFA Champions League four times while becoming their all-time top scorer.
