Tottenham have reportedly opened talks to sign Everton superstar Richarlison and are expected to lodge an offer for the 25-year-old Brazilian.
According to Goal Brazil, Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to open talks with the representatives of Richarlison as they get ready to submit an offer for the Everton forward before the end of June.
Richarlison has been with Everton for four years, having signed from Watford in the summer of 2018. The 25-year-old has grown into a talismanic figure at Goodison Park and has been one of their best players during the time that he has been at the club. Indeed, Richarlison had a huge hand to play as the Toffees narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season.
Having earned his spurs, Richarlison now looks set for a big move this summer. The 25-year-old has been on the radars of top clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea, but Tottenham have shown the strongest interest in signing the Brazilian international.
Tottenham are in the market for a new forward despite bringing in Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus in January. Steven Bergwijn is likely to join Ajax imminently, with negotiations underway between the two clubs. On top of that, there are some doubts over the future of Lucas Moura, who is entering the final year of his contract.
Furthermore, Tottenham also do not have a natural cover for Harry Kane in the No. 9 slot, making the signing of a new versatile forward a top priority for Antonio Conte’s side. Richarlison, to that end, has emerged as the top target for the north London club this summer.
The 25-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League and is adept at playing across the frontline, meaning he would add valuable depth to the attacking unit for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham are ready to intensify their efforts to sign Richarlison and are starting negotiations with his representatives as they plan to submit an offer to Everton for the Brazilian international before the end of the month. While the report does not mention the Toffees’ demands for their prized asset, there have been claims that they could look for a fee of around €75 million.
Richarlison, for his part, is open to moving to Tottenham as he wishes to play in the UEFA Champions League. Since arriving in England in 2017, when he signed for Watford, the 25-year-old has not played in Europe’s premier continental competition and is keen on changing that next season. Whether he gets his wish with a move to Spurs remains to be seen.
