Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo is reportedly open to the idea of spending another season on loan away from Old Trafford.
According to journalist Fredrik A. Filtvedt, Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo is open to another loan stint away from the club, after having spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan with Rangers. Diallo is reportedly in discussion with manager Erik ten Hag over the same but nothing has been decided yet.
The 19-year-old joined Manchester United from Atalanta BC in the 2021 winter window for a reported fee of £19.2 million. However, the youngster struggled to break into the United frontline with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes dictating terms.
Manchester United then added Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to their attack in the summer of 2021, which further dented the youngster’s playing time. Diallo, as a result, was sent on a six-month-long loan to Rangers in January earlier this year.
In Scotland, the youngster made 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals but didn’t complete the full 90 minutes in any match. He wasn’t used in the Europa League as well where Rangers reached the final and lost to Eintracht Frankfurt.
With the 19-year-old returning to Old Trafford this summer, there are still question marks over his game-time in the upcoming season. Manchester United are in the market for one or more attacking signings with a wide player and a centre-forward on their agenda.
This could mean another season where he would feature mostly from the bench and Diallo is thus open to another loan spell in a bid to get regular game-time. There is little clarity over which club would take him on board temporarily but reports could start trickling in once Ten Hag decides on the youngster’s future.
After joining the Red Devils last year, Diallo has made nine appearances for their senior squad, scoring and assisting one goal each. The Ivory Coast international still has a lot of time to cement a spot in the Manchester United first team and another temporary stint away could turn out to be highly beneficial in that regard.
