Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Alvaro Odriozola, valued at €20 million by Real Madrid, this summer.
According to a report by Italian publication Tuttosport, Alvaro Odriozola is the subject of interest from Inter Milan over a possible move in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid will demand €20 million to part ways with the Spanish defender, whose €4 million-a-year wages could pose a problem for the Serie A giants.
Alvaro Odriozola has struggled to establish a foothold in the first-team setup at Real Madrid since arriving from Real Sociedad in July 2018. While he was one of the most promising young right-backs in Spain four years ago, the 26-year-old has made gradual progress during this period, with a loan spell at Bayern Munich not working out either.
Real Madrid sent Odriozola out on loan for a second time last summer, and he was decent enough for Fiorentina, chipping in with one goal and one assist in 27 appearances for La Viola. The Spanish defender returns to Real Madrid this month but might not have a future at the Santiago Bernabeu. And the player could return to the Serie A, with Inter Milan keen on signing him.
The Serie A giants are in a spot of bother over Denzel Dumfries’s long-term future amid links with Manchester United and Bayern Munich. The Dutch defender could be the second successive right wing-back to leave Inter Milan after just one year at San Siro following Achraf Hakimi’s departure last summer.
The Italian heavyweights have thus identified potential options to replace Dumfries in the summer transfer window. To that end, Odriozola has popped up on Inter Milan’s radar, with Real Madrid demanding around €20 million to part ways with the Spanish defender.
But wages could be a stumbling block for Inter Milan, who might not be able to afford Odriozola’s €4 million-a-year pay package. So the Real Madrid defender will likely have to lower his salary to move to San Siro if the Serie A giants firm up their interest in him.
It is also unclear if Inter Milan will be willing to shell out €20 million to secure the services of the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window. But Odriozola’s time at Real Madrid could end this year after four years of frustration at the Santiago Bernabeu.
