Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this summer.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Bayern Munich are looking for a world-class striker to replace the outgoing Robert Lewandowski. The German giants have identified Harry Kane as a possible replacement and are exploring a summer move for him.
The eight-year association between Bayern Munich and Lewandowski is coming to an end, with the Polish centre-forward favouring a move to Barcelona. The Catalan giants have reportedly agreed on personal terms with the 33-year-old on a three-year contract worth €9 million per year.
The player has time and again stressed that does not intend to stay with Bayern Munich, with just a year left on his contract. Lewandowski has rejected all advancements over a possible renewal from the club and looks destined to join Barcelona.
While Barcelona finally seem to be closing in on a top-class striker, Bayern Munich now have their task cut out. Lewandowski scored a staggering 344 goals for Die Roten in 374 matches, growing into one of the world’s best attackers. He was also named The Best FIFA men’s player in 2020 and 2021.
Replacing a player of the Polish international’s calibre will be a huge ask. Bayern Munich have reportedly identified Kane as the centre-forward they want to sign once Lewandowski leaves for Barcelona. But getting the Tottenham talisman on board won’t be straightforward.
The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last season, but the deal fell through at the last minute. Kane eventually found a new lease of life under manager Antonio Conte and reportedly believes Tottenham are heading in the right direction. Thus, pricing him away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be tricky.
Tottenham would not let Kane leave until they sign a replacement. Antonio Conte is reportedly weighing a move for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, but the Nerazzurri are not ready to sell. The Argentine forward wishes to stay put in Italy as well. All these scenarios could make Bayern’s pursuit of Harry Kane a highly unlikely one to go through, but the transfer season has thrown quite a few surprises over the years.
