Tottenham have reportedly been in touch with Alessandro Bastoni’s agent, with suggestions emerging that Inter Milan could sanction a sale for the right price.
According to Daniele Longo, Tottenham have begun talks with Alessandro Bastoni’s agent as the centre-back is a crucial target for Antonio Conte in the summer. The suggestion is that Inter Milan would be willing to sanction a sale for the defender if they receive the right offer.
Fabio Paratici’s arrival as technical director shifted Tottenham’s preferred markets to identify and sign talents. Italy has become their newest hunting ground, and the presence of Antonio Conte has boosted their chances further.
They made several signings from Serie A in the last 12 months, with as many as four players arriving at the club. And another star is now in the crosshairs as they pursue key defensive target Alessandro Bastoni. Inter Milan are not particularly keen on selling him, although they could if the right money is offered. Spurs are already making moves to understand the price and other details.
Tottenham have recently initiated contact with Bastoni’s agent and could now move ahead with a sizeable offer to convince Inter Milan into a sale. The Italian side is not entirely over their financial troubles and could sell some key players to balance their books.
Simone Inzaghi does not want to lose his key defender, as he wishes to keep Bastoni for the long-term future. At the same time, there are no guarantees the centre-back could be convinced by Tottenham’s offer, as he could be happy to continue playing in his homeland.
However, with Conte at the helm in north London, they have the best chance of any Premier League side to bring a player like Bastoni, with Manchester United also interested in the defender. Additionally, Spurs’ participation in the Champions League for next season could also work in their favour.
Recent reports insisted Bastoni is hesitant over moving to Spurs and could look to remain at the San Siro. However, the fact that Tottenham are reportedly talking with his agent may signal a change of intent.
If Spurs are to make a sizeable financial offer for the player, who has two years left on his deal, Inter Milan could accept and sell their star centre-back. There is still plenty of work ahead for Spurs to reach an agreement and then convince Bastoni that north London is the perfect place for him to further his career.
