Manchester United are reportedly locked in a battle with Newcastle United and Arsenal in the race to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
A recent report from Daily Mirror has offered an update on the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Englishman is staring at an uncertain future at Everton, with a host of Premier League top dogs including Manchester United keeping tabs on his situation.
Everton are adamant about keeping hold of Calvert-Lewin as they want to avoid appearing as a selling club. But in light of the massive losses the club have incurred over the past three years, they could be forced to cash in on the forward in an attempt to balance the books. They are also expected to offload Richarlison, who is a target for Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Calvert-Lewin himself is reportedly open to leaving Everton following a disappointing 2021/22 campaign. Although he finished last season as the club’s top goalscorer, the English forward’s campaign this term has been blighted by injuries. He could only muster 17 league appearances, scoring just five goals.
Despite his struggles, Calvert-Lewin’s stock remains high. Newcastle United, in particular, are weighing up a fresh move for the attacker, who has been identified as the ideal man to spearhead the club’s ambitious project and become Eddie Howe’s main target man upfront. He could be joined by another attacking sensation in Hugo Ekitike.
Newcastle United, though, can expect stiff competition from Manchester United. The Red Devils are in the market for a new striker following the exit of Edinson Cavani while Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford. The addition of the Everton forward, to that end, could help Erik ten Hag add more bit into the Manchester United offensive setup.
Another club involved in the race to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer are Arsenal. The Gunners are likely targeting the Englishman as a direct replacement for Alexandre Lacazette. His aerial prowess, coupled with his mobility in the final third could indeed make him an ideal leader of Mikel Arteta’s attacking unit.

However, luring the English international from Everton could be tricky for Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle. While Calvert-Lewin is keen on leaving Goodison Park, Everton are likely to demand a fortune for the services of the frontman, who still has a contract until 2025. Reports speculate a figure of around £45 million might be enough to sweep the Toffees off their feet.
