Real Madrid youngster Victor Chust, who is out on loan at Cadiz, has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Serie A side Lazio.
According to the print edition of La Repubblica (h/t Calciomercato), Serie A giants Lazio are plotting a summer raid on newly-crowned Spanish champions Real Madrid for the signing of defender Victor Chust, who is currently away on loan at Cadiz.
Chust joined the Real Madrid youth setup from La Liga side Valencia in 2012 and has gradually progressed through the ranks at the Spanish capital outfit. He has made 26 appearances for the club’s Castilla outfit, while he made his senior bow for Los Blancos in January last year. After three first-team appearances, the 22-year-old was loaned out to Cadiz in the summer.
Chust has made a solid impression at his loan club, helping them battle the threat of relegation. The young defender has featured 29 times across all competitions for Cadiz and has displayed good physical prowess and technical ability. Set to return to Real Madrid at the end of the season, the centre-half will not have space in the first-team roster at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Indeed, Real Madrid already have Eder Militao, David Alaba, Nacho Fernandez and Jesus Vallejo in the centre-back department. On top of that, the Merengues will be adding Antonio Rudiger to the squad after agreeing a deal to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.
So, Victor Chust is unlikely to find a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans next season, and a summer exit could prove to be beneficial for all parties involved. And Lazio have presented themselves as a potential destination for the Spanish Under-21 international ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Lazio are in the market for new centre-backs as Luiz Felipe is on his way out at the end of the season, while his defensive partner Francesco Acerbi has also asked for a transfer. In addition, the contract extension of Patric is also yet to be resolved, leaving manager Maurizio Sarri concerned about his defensive personnel for next season.
Lazio are battling to sign AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli, who is also a target for Barcelona and Manchester United, on a free transfer. But they are keen on adding more options in the centre-back department and see Victor Chust as a viable option. So, it will be interesting to see if the Italian giants can reach an agreement with Real Madrid over a transfer for the 22-year-old in the summer.
