Sadio Mane has handed Barcelona a boost in his pursuit, with the Liverpool attacking powerhouse reportedly open to moving to Camp Nou.
According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s hopes of signing Sadio Mane in the summer transfer window have received a big boost. The Liverpool forward is ready to move to Camp Nou as he feels that he will have a better chance of winning the Ballon d’Or at the Catalan club.
Sadio Mane joined Liverpool from Southampton in July 2016 and has since transformed into one of the best players in the Premier League. The 30-year-old has been instrumental in the Reds’ success in the past half a decade, with his prolific attacking partnership with Mohamed Salah helping his team flourish.
The Senegalese international has turned out 266 times for Liverpool thus far, amassing 119 goals and 47 assists in the process. But Mane’s contract situation has left Liverpool in a spot of bother, with his deal running out next year. The interest from Barcelona stems from the continuing uncertainties surrounding the future of Ousmane Dembele. In addition, the Blaugrana will not re-sign Adama Traore permanently, leaving a spot open in the offensive unit at Camp Nou.
At the same time, Memphis Depay faces an uncertain future at Barcelona, with recent reports claiming that the Catalan giants are ready to cash in on him in the summer transfer window. Mane has thus emerged as a viable target, with the Liverpool forward’s ability to play centrally making him an even more appealing target.
The 30-year-old could be a viable alternative to Raphinha, whose move to Barcelona is not set in stone despite his eagerness to join the Blaugrana. And Barcelona’s hopes of signing Mane have received a boost, with the Liverpool forward ready to join the Catalan club in the summer transfer window.
