Liverpool are reportedly expected to make a move for Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham after the end of next season.
According to 90 min, Liverpool are planning to rebuild their ageing midfield unit, with Jude Bellingham emerging as one of their top targets. It appears Jurgen Klopp wants to revolve his midfield around the 18-year-old English international, who is regarded as one of the most gifted young players in world football.
Fresh from penning a new deal with Liverpool, Klopp wants to build a Liverpool empire in the next five years. Bellingham could be involved in this ambitious project, with the German tactician well aware of the youngster’s qualities due to his exceptional performances in the Bundesliga.
During his two years in Germany so far, Bellingham has featured in 88 competitive appearances. The English international has become a lynchpin in midfield, offering energy, enthusiasm, fighting spirit and most importantly, leadership in the middle of the park.
Indeed, at the age of just 18, the Englishman is considered one of the leaders in the team, with even the seniors seeking motivation from the feisty young individual. In addition to his leadership, the former Birmingham City teenager has been involved in 27 goals for Dortmund in all competitions, which is indicative of his productivity upfront.
Bellingham’s qualities have not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool among the clubs keen on attaining his services in the near future. The Reds would have ideally liked to sign the 18-year-old English international in the coming summer, but the operation could be extremely difficult.
Borussia Dortmund are braced to lose Erling Haaland in the summer amid interest from Manchester City. It remains unlikely they would want to ship their other young sensation in the same summer, especially at a time when the club have shown real ambition in the market by signing Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck.
Liverpool are thus hoping to snap him up in 2023. Bellingham is likelier to be available in the market by then, especially if Dortmund continue to underperform in the league and finish behind Bayern Munich.
However, with no release clause embedded in his contract with Dortmund, signing the 18-year-old Englishman could be tricky as the Bundesliga giants could demand a fortune. Liverpool will also have to compete with Manchester City in the race to sign Bellingham, among many other traditional English giants.
