Liverpool interested in Enes Unal

Liverpool are eyeing a summer swoop for Getafe’s in-form striker Enes Unal as a potential replacement for Divock Origi.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are gearing up for a busy summer ahead. Jurgen Klopp is expected to demand multiple signings in an attempt to add more depth to the squad. One of his priorities is to replace Divock Origi in the summer, with Enes Unal emerging as a potential target for the Reds.

Formerly of Manchester City, Unal has come a long way since his failures at Etihad. He has become one of La Liga’s rising stars this season, scoring 15 goals in the league. His contributions have been critical in helping Getafe remain out of the relegation scrap, with the forward scoring almost half of the club’s goals this term.

A centre forward, Unal has exhibited excellent positioning sense to find himself in goalscoring situations. In addition to his positional knowledge, the 24-year-old has offered the technicality as well, linking up extremely well with his teammates in the final third.

The Turkish international has gained significant experience at the highest level of football as well, making over 150 appearances in the Spanish top-flight since leaving Manchester City. But it appears Enes Unal could be on his way back to the Premier League, with Liverpool among the clubs keen on his services.

In players like Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz, Liverpool boast one of the best attacks in Europe. But they may have to let go of a certain Divock Origi this summer, with AC Milan reportedly reaching an agreement with the Belgian.

Origi’s role as a super-sub has been critical to Liverpool’s success, with the Belgian during crucial matches to salvage points for his team. The Reds are hoping for more of the same in Enes Unal.

They want the Turkish international to serve as an understudy of players like Jota and Firmino, one who can become an option during team rotations and help the team out during injury crises.

Having scored 15 league goals this term, Unal might not be too keen on playing second fiddle in the Premier League. But joining a team like Liverpool could be too good of an opportunity to turn down, especially if the Reds can truly land the seemingly impossible quadruple come the end of the season.
