Crystal Palace are reportedly looking to bring Aaron Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park following his Manchester United struggles.
According to a report from The Athletic, Crystal Palace are ready to offer Aaron Wan-Bissaka a career lifeline by asking him to return to Selhurst Park at the end of the season. The Londoners are considering an upgrade in the right-back position this summer, and it appears the Manchester United defender is one of the players currently on their radar.
A product of the Crystal Palace youth academy, Wan-Bissaka was one of the youngest and most gifted right-backs in Europe when he joined Manchester United in a £50 million deal almost three years ago. He even enjoyed a promising start to his career at Manchester United, showcasing his defensive astuteness and keeping attackers at bay.
However, the youngster’s form has since taken a massive dip. Rather than improving his game, the right-back has regressed, offering very little threat going forward while looking clumsy defensively on multiple occasions.
It has led to Wan-Bissaka losing his status as an undisputed starter in the Manchester United camp. While he was a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, interim coach Ralf Rangnick has usually rotated between him and Diogo Dalot in the right-back position.
Many expect Manchester United’s new boss Erik ten Hag to offload him in the summer and plot a move for a far more technically astute right-back.
Wan-Bissaka’s uncertain future at Old Trafford has alerted his former club Crystal Palace. The south London outfit see this as an ideal market opportunity to bring back their prodigal son from Manchester United and help him revive his career at Selhurst Park next season.
The Eagles are currently looking for a new right-back option as it is, in light of Nathan Ferguson’s injury woes and Nathaniel Clyne’s expiring contract. Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Ligue 1 starlet Fabien Centonze, but Wan-Bissaka could be a much more logical option due to his experience in the Premier League.

However, the report does state it is going to be tricky for Crystal Palace to lure the right-back from Manchester United this summer. New coach Erik ten Hag is yet to take a closer look at the squad and thus remains undecided over the future of the Englishman. A lot can be revealed in the coming months as we approach the summer transfer window.
