Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Leeds United winger Jack Harrison with a view of making a move to sign him in the summer.
According to Daily Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Leeds United’s English winger Jack Harrison in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Jack Harrison started at the Liverpool academy and spent a year with the Reds before signing for Manchester United’s youth setup in 2003. The youngster was with the Red Devils for close to seven years before moving to the United States of America in 2010, joining the Black Rock FC academy.
After spending three years with the club, Harrison moved to Manhattan SC, where he spent a couple of years before enjoying stints with Chicago Fire and New York City FC. He arrived at Manchester City in January 2018 and was immediately loaned out to Middlesbrough, where he spent the next six months. Upon returning, the winger was sent out to Leeds United in the summer of 2018, where he thrived.
After impressing heavily for the Whites, Harrison returned to Elland Road in 2019, this time on a two-year loan deal before his transfer was made permanent last year. The 25-year-old has made 158 appearances for Leeds United, scoring 25 goals and assisting 22 more. He played a key role in the Yorkshire-based outfit earning promotion to the Premier League and has continued to perform well in the top flight.
It has now put Harrison on the radars of Tottenham Hotspur, who are monitoring the former Manchester City ace as they consider a potential summer deal for the Englishman.
Daily Telegraph claims that Tottenham had enquired for Harrison during the January transfer window, as they believed that he could be a good fit in Antonio Conte’s system. The Lilywhites saw him as an option for the left wing-back and the left-winger slots in the Italian tactician’s 3-4-3 formation but were turned down by Leeds.
Instead, they brought in Dejan Kulusevski in the winter window, signing him on loan from Juventus. The Swede has impressed in his short time in north London, so much so that Tottenham are keen on turning his transfer into a permanent one at the earliest. But, they continue to retain an interest in Harrison heading into the summer.
A move for the 25-year-old would make sense, considering that Steven Bergwijn is expected to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of the season. It would weaken Spurs’ frontline somewhat, leaving them without any viable backup for Son Heung-min on the left flank.
Harrison was recommended to Tottenham director Fabio Paratici by former Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo, who played with the winger at New York City FC. The 25-year-old has a contract with Leeds until 2024. And considering that the Whites are already staring at the prospect of losing star winger Raphinha, they will want to keep hold of the Englishman come summer.
