Real Madrid initiate contact with Serge Gnabry

Serge Gnabry and Real Madrid have reportedly in “loose contacts”, with David Alaba pushing Los Blancos to pursue the 26-year-old German international.

According to a report by Sport Bild, David Alaba is pushing Real Madrid to launch the offensive for Serge Gnabry in the summer transfer window. There are loose contacts between Los Blancos and the 26-year-old German international, who faces an uncertain future at Bayern Munich.

Serge Gnabry has found a stable footing in his career since joining Bayern Munich nearly half a decade ago. The former Arsenal forward has established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga in this period while also becoming a full-fledged German international.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2021/22 campaign, amassing 13 goals and nine assists in 36 appearances for Bayern Munich thus far. But the Bavarian giants are in a spot of bother over the German international’s long-term future, as he has a little over a year left on his current contract, with a renewal nowhere in such. Such a situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid.

The interest from Real Madrid comes in the wake of rampant uncertainties surrounding the futures of several wide-attackers. While Gareth Bale will depart from the Santiago Bernabeu as a free agent, Eden Hazard’s position has become increasingly precarious lately, and he seems to have no future at Real Madrid.

The Merengues would be particularly concerned about the future of Marco Asensio, who is in a similar position as Gnabry. If Asensio embarks on a new adventure in the summer transfer window, Real Madrid will need a replacement irrespective of their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe, making Serge Gnabry a viable target.

According to the report, there are “loose contacts” between Real Madrid and the 26-year-old German international. In addition, David Alaba is pushing Real Madrid to pursue a move for Gnabry in the summer transfer window, with the player unsettled at the Allianz Arena.

While Gnabry would prefer to sign a new contract, he is unhappy with the recent change in his position. And even if he does not sign a renewal, the former Arsenal forward will prefer to stay put at the Allianz Arena. But it will be interesting to see if his head turns if Real Madrid launch the offensive for him.
