Ferran Quetglas is reportedly on the brink of joining Real Madrid, who will bring in the 16-year-old Spanish goalkeeping prodigy in the summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Ferran Quetglas is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The 16-year-old RCD Mallorca goalkeeping prodigy is on the verge of joining Los Blancos ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Ferran Quetglas is widely regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Europe, having gone from strength to strength in age-group football in Spain in recent years. The teenage wonderkid is a modern-day goalkeeper in every sense, as he is comfortable with the ball at his feet while being a terrific shot-stopper.
While the 16-year-old primarily represents the Mallorca under-19 side, he has even made a matchday squad for the first team this season, making it to the bench for Mallorca’s La Liga game against Levante earlier this year. And the Spanish goalkeeping prodigy’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid keen on signing him.
The Merengues are renowned for foraying into Spanish and international markets searching for the most promising young players to bolster their youth setup. And Florentino Perez’s outlook of integrating the brightest prospects into the first-team squad has fetched Real Madrid current key figures like Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes.
Several prodigies outside Spain are already heavily linked with Real Madrid, with Endrick touted to be the next big thing for their first team. The Spanish giants are reportedly in talks with Palmeiras to sign the Brazilian wonderkid, while closer to home, several other players in Spain are also on their radar.
Most recently, Marcos Garcia Montolio has completed a move to Real Madrid. And it looks like Ferran Quetglas could be the latest prodigy to join Real Madrid, with Los Blancos already submitting an offer to Mallorca to sign the 16-year-old whizkid.
While the offer has not been accepted yet, Mallorca might soon be ready to let Quetglas leave, with the Spanish goalkeeping prospect poised to join up with one of Real Madrid’s Juvenil squad. For now, it looks like Ferran Quetglas will be the latest child prodigy to join Real Madrid.
