Liverpool have reportedly reached personal terms with in-demand Fulham youngster Fabio Carvalho, who is set to become a free agent in the summer.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool have moved one step closer towards the capture of Fabio Carvalho. They have reached an agreement in principle to sign the Fulham youngster. The player’s current contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of the season, meaning LFC will be able to snap him up on a free transfer this summer.
Liverpool were close to completing the capture of Carvalho during the January transfer window. But the move did not materialise as time ran out on deadline day.
Carvalho ended up remaining at Craven Cottage and has continued to play a crucial role in the attack for the west London outfit. An attacking midfielder by trade, the 19-year-old has racked up seven goals and six assists in the Championship this term, becoming a guaranteed starter in Marco Silva’s first-team plans.
Although Carvalho has registered only one goal involvement in his last eight league matches, there is a strong belief in the Liverpool camp regarding his ability and the potential to become one of the finest players in England.
The former SL Benfica whizkid, after all, is currently one of the most sought-after young players in the UK. Along with Liverpool, the youngster has been a target for a host of other European giants, including AC Milan and Arsenal. But it appears the player prefers a move to Anfield, especially given Jurgen Klopp’s strong track record of developing young players.
The report suggests Liverpool will be liable to pay Fulham hefty “development fees” despite the free nature of the contract. It would, nevertheless, appear insignificant for Klopp, who will be delighted to have bagged the services of yet another young talent from Fulham.
The last youngster to arrive in Anfield from Craven Cottage was Harvey Elliott. Many expect both him and Carvalho to become the face of the potential Liverpool attack in the future, as the club look to brace themselves for a future without the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
On the flip side, Liverpool’s on-loan defender Neco Williams could seal a permanent move to Fulham next season after enjoying immense success so far. The player is reportedly keen on making the move happen as he looks to take the next step in his career.
