Robert Lewandowski wants to join Barcelona

Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski as the veteran striker wants to make the switch to Camp Nou in the summer.

Lewandowski has been with Bayern Munich for nearly eight years and has scaled great heights with the German record champions, winning almost every trophy during his tenure at the club while breaking goalscoring records for fun along the way.

In 366 appearances for Die Roten, Lewandowski has smashed in 339 goals, 45 of which have come in the ongoing campaign as he looks to guide Bayern Munich to another Bundesliga title. However, the Polish international could move on from the Allianz Arena when the ongoing campaign ends.

Lewandowski has a contract with Bayern that runs until the summer of 2023. Talks over a new deal have not gone down too well, which has left the 33-year-old striker considering an exit in the upcoming transfer window. Barcelona are among a host of elite clubs interested in securing his services.

Barcelona are in the market for a marquee signing in the attacking department to fill the void left by Lionel Messi’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain last year. Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland has been at the top of their wishlist, but the Norwegian could be on his way to Manchester City. It has prompted the Catalans to switch their attention to Lewandowski.

Recent reports indicated that Barcelona are ready to hand Lewandowski a four-year contract in the summer, despite his advancing age. Now, SPORT is claiming that the veteran striker would be open to joining the Blaugrana before next season as he seeks one final big move in his illustrious career.

The report states that Lewandowski believes that moving to Barcelona would enhance his global reputation while also bolstering his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or. The good relationship between his agent and Barcelona president Joan Laporta is another plus-point for the Catalan giants in their pursuit of the 33-year-old forward.

Bayern Munich, for their part, believe that Lewandowski will not leave the club in the summer. But with rising interest from Barcelona and their recent revival under Xavi Hernandez, the Polish striker could decide to jump ship.
