La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have reportedly been handed a major boost in pursuit of Jude Bellingham, with Borussia Dortmund open to a deal.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid could have a great chance of securing the services of Jude Bellingham. Borussia Dortmund will prefer dealing with Los Blancos for the 18-year-old English international when the time comes for him to depart the Signal Iduna Park.
Jude Bellingham has already come a long way in his budding career, having first risen to prominence as a 16-year-old wonderkid at Birmingham City FC. And since moving to Borussia Dortmund nearly two years ago, the English international has gone from strength to strength.
A key figure for Dortmund, the 18-year-old has amassed ten goals and 17 assists in 83 appearances for the Bundesliga giants. But the Black and Yellows are in a spot of bother over Bellingham’s long-term future, as he has become one of the most highly sought-after players in the transfer market, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.
Real Madrid will remodel an ageing midfield unit over the next two years, during which Luka Modric and Toni Kroos could start getting phased out as regulars. While the two midfield stalwarts are still showing signs that there is life left in them, the fact that they are approaching the final phases of their respective careers will not be lost on Real Madrid.
To that end, several midfielders have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, with Jude Bellingham one of the players they have closely monitored. And the Spanish giants have been handed a major boost in pursuit of the 18-year-old English international, with Borussia Dortmund open to dealing with Los Blancos.
According to the report, the Black and Yellows favourably view the prospect of negotiating with Real Madrid for Bellingham. But a move for the former Birmingham City midfielder will only likely materialise in 2023, as Borussia Dortmund will lose one key player in Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window this year.
In the meantime, the Merengues have already initiated contact with Borussia Dortmund to discuss the prospect of signing Bellingham next year. With the Bundesliga giants looking favourably at dealing with Real Madrid, a transfer in 2023 could materialise.
