The French international is keen on joining Los Blancos ahead of the 2022/23 season, with AS Monaco likely to demand around €50 million for him.
Aurelien Tchouameni has come leaps and bounds since joining AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. Now widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1, the 22-year-old has become a mainstay for club and country, growing in stature considerably since making his France debut last year.
The French international has been solid in the ongoing campaign, turning out 41 times for Monaco while chipping in with three goals and two assists in the process. And Tchouameni’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.
The Spanish giants are poised to enter a big summer transfer window that could see them undergo a major squad overhaul. Midfield is one of the priority departments to bolster for Real Madrid, with the Merengues looking to lay down a succession plan for the first-choice trio of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro.
Two of the pieces of the puzzle could already be in place in the form of Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga. And Tchouameni could be a long-term successor for Casemiro, considering his exploits as a defensive midfielder for Monaco and the French national side. The interest from Real Madrid thus makes sense.
